Mozilla confirmed to The INQUIRER that Firefox 4 had been downloaded over 10 million times in 24 hours, with 7.1 million direct downloads and over 3 million updates from previous release candidate versions.
Mozilla told The INQUIRER, “Within 24 hours of Mozilla’s Firefox 4 being announced it had been downloaded 7.1 million times, this is in addition to the more than 3 million people who were already running the release candidate that became our final version.”
The figure of 7.1 million downloads fell short of Mozilla’s all-time record of 8 million downloads in 24 hours for Firefox 3 back in 2008. Nevertheless, Mozzarella can be proud of another impressive showing and putting the Vole’s Internet Exploder 9 download ‘record’ way in the shade.
