On Tuesday January 25, 2011, someone hacked onto Zuckerberg’s fan page on Facebook and left this message:
“Let the hacking begin. If facebook (sic) needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ‘social business’ the way Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus described it? [Link] What do you think? #hackercup2011″

Besides Zuckerberg and Assange Facenbook pages being hacked, French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s Facebook page was also hacked early this week. It said on his wall that he would not run for re-election. Sarkozy denied the fact and said “no system is infallible.”

Facebook is trying to step up security and posted a blog called “A Continued Commitment to Security.” It draws attention to Data Privacy Day, which is this Friday.

The new email adres ”@Facebook” is a part of a multi messaging product. Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook engineer Andrew Bosworth were careful to explain that this is not yet another standard e-mail client. Instead, it’s a rethinking of the Facebook messaging system and a new take on digital communication that attempts to integrate e-mail, IM and SMS into one ongoing conversation, as opposed to separate avenues of communication. Though Facebook users will eventually be able to get a Facebook.com e-mail address. See the video for more info.
